Digital artist and designer Colin Goldberg will discuss the ins and outs of working as a digital artist, including both the business and creative aspects of the field. The topics will include AI, social media, and self-publishing. The session will also include a hands-on AR (augmented reality) demonstation and a discussion of the technology's usage and implications for creative professionals.

Colin Goldberg is a full-time digital artist and designer known for his role in the development of Techspressionism, an international movement of artists working with technology. Colin has been working on the web since the 1990s, launching brands like Snapple and Popular Science onto the web during the dot-com boom. His work has been featured in WIRED, PBS and NPR. He has also recently published Metagraphs: Augmented Reality Art, which is the first AR art book on Amazon. When viewed with a mobile device, the artwork animates directly on the book's pages.

Harold is an adjunct Professor of Photography and Art at Five Towns College, Suffolk County Community College, and Stony Brook University. He has been a professional/commercial/fashion/studio photographer in NYC for over 16 years and his work has been published in magazines around the world. Currently, his stock photography is represented and distributed worldwide by AdobeStock and Getty images, and he is vigorously involved in AI imaging.

Evan is an adjunct professor for Introduction to Game Design & Development, and the Head Esports Coach for Five Towns College. He graduated from Adelphi University with his BS, Magna Cum Laude, in Computer & Management Information Systems with a concentration in Game Development and minors in Computer Science and Video Game Design. He co-authored the textbook Game Development with Construct 2.

Immersive Sound Adventures: ATMOS Audio

The presentation will focus on immersive audio mixing and production using live examples. Listeners will be seated inside an environment surrounded by speakers. They will be treated to sound traveling around them. All formats of immersive audio will be discussed and will include a discussion of the past, present, and future of immersive audio. Listeners will experience binaural playback. Headphones will be provided so each attendee can come in, sit down, and listen.

Immersive Art: An Interactive Demonstration

Projection mapping and immersive art push the boundaries of storytelling and visual expression, allowing filmmakers, photographers, and visual media artists to transform ordinary surfaces into dynamic visual experiences. This session begins with a short lecture introducing the fundamentals of projection mapping—its history, techniques, and creative possibilities. Following this, participants will experience a live demonstration of projection mapping using MadMapper, where I will showcase how visuals can be mapped onto real-world objects in real time. Beyond just observing, attendees will be invited to become part of the projection installation through a live camera setup, seeing their own movements integrated into the visuals. This interactive element provides a unique, firsthand experience of how projection mapping can create immersive and responsive environments.

Motomichi is an award-winning Projection Artist and Animator. His work utilizes black, white, and red with minimalistic graphic elements. Inspired by Cryptozoology and Mythology, he creates monsters that can be both monstrous and endearing, confrontational and playful. He has exhibited globally in numerous museums and galleries. His animated films have been screened at the Sundance Film Festival, Onedotzero Festival, and Edinburgh International Film Festival. His recent public installation work "NYC 3000" commissioned by MTA Arts & Design, is now on view across the 52-screen digital display at Fulton Center. He has also collaborated with brands and companies including EA, MTV and Theory/UNIQLO.

Michael Mastermaker is an educator, illustrator, and technologist with over 25 years of industry experience in web development, design, and implementation for clients from a variety of industries. Mr. Mastermaker is an illustrator of licensed work for Lucasfilm, Marvel, and various other clients. He works for several trading card companies creating one of kind “sketch cards.” As a member of the visual communication faculty at Farmingdale State College, he is actively involved in curriculum development in technology driven design. His current research explores design fiction and narrative in the areas of altered reality and blended spaces technologies.
